(Sorry about the false subscription update spams sent out recently, it was WordPress' fault. ugh.)

Let's start this first, new blog post with our current RV adventure. We have a job. It doesn't pay much (approx. nothing), but we get a spot to park the RV for free while we're here (and that's worth some money).

We are volunteering at the Maine Forest and Logging Museum in Bradley, ME. We park our rig onsite and are currently the only people living on this 400 acre property (zoom in on the map above with satellite view to see our spot). The museum is a re-creation of a late 1800's logging mill/camp and it sits on about 20 of the 400 acres. Taking care of this 20 acres of old buildings, bridges and trails is our job. We open up the entrance gate in the morning, open up all the buildings for visitors, clean up, split logs, clear brush, run the gift shop, paint and repair as needed. Then at the end of a looonng day we have to close everything up again (about 4pm). We have to do this every day except Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and not really Fridays either. The hardest part is getting up and ready to walk up the road to the gift shop by 10AM on those days we have to be open... The work days can be brutal! Whew!

I'm gonna ask for a raise!

Those of you who know me would not be surprised to learn that it didn't take long for my impressive skill set to become apparent to the museum board of directors. As expected, I was promptly promoted to management (almost fell out of the executive window).

If any of you are in Maine Oct. 6-7 be sure to come by the museum for living history days. I'll be driving the Lombard log hauler! That thing is pretty cool. The only working Lombard in the country.
